Kathleen finds metallics and black work in a small bath.
The half-bathroom in Kathleen's 1979 quad was stuck in a 70's time warp and lacking architectural detail. Her dull, lifeless bathroom lacked the luxurious and soothing feel that she wanted. Kathleen's goal was to make a dramatic and instant impact on her room. To begin her bathroom makeover, Kathleen started by gutting the space. She removed the worn carpeting old dilapidated baseboards, and installed new carpet and baseboards in rich cherry.
Dark walls add drama
Metallics look great next to glass
Use color on the ceiling
Kathleen chose a European styled vanity/sink/mirror combo as the inspiration for her remodeling project. Kathleen made a dramatic and instant impact on her bathroom by using the longest wall as an accent wall and painting it flat black. The light grey ceiling, glossy white crown molding and the metallic wash technique used on the remaining walls provided drama and warmth. Contemporary lighting and black and chrome decorative accents provide the finishing touches. Kathleen's bathroom has gone from outdated and boring to luxurious and modern.
